New Student Orientation Participation Agreement
By registering for New Student Orientation at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, I have read and agree to the following terms and conditions in addition to the policies listed on the New Student Orientation website:
1. The University of Wisconsin-Parkside requires all new freshman, who are undergraduate, (non-online program) degree-seeking students enrolling at its campus to attend a full New Student Orientation session. Students will not be excused from all or part of an Orientation session. The Orientation requirement must be completed in order for a student to be eligible to register for classes. Parents, friends, or family members may not attend in lieu of the student.
2. All physical activities offered as part of the New Student Orientation program are on a voluntary participation basis and carry various degrees of risk or injury. Participants assume sole responsibility for any and all such risk or injury that may result due to voluntary participation. It is each individual's responsibility to be knowledgeable of his/her/their own physical condition when participating in any activity.
3. Only registered students, guests/families are eligible to attend or participate in sessions sponsored by New Student Orientation. Further, students are eligible to attend the student program and families/guests the family/guest program as designated by the schedule. Unregistered students, guests/families will be asked to register and attend the designated program or they will be unable to attend/participate.
4. Due to costs incurred by Admissions & New Student Services, a $25 fee is assessed to students who do not show up for their scheduled New Student Orientation date. Changes/cancellations can be made by emailing orientation@uwp.edu.
5. Students attending New Student Orientation are expected to abide by all policies set forth by the Office of Admissions & New Student Services and the Parkside Student Code of Conduct. Violations of policy and/or the Student Code of Conduct may result in but is not limited to: removal from New Student Orientation, having to repeat New Student Orientation, forfeiting registration costs/incurring additional registration costs if repeating is necessary and/or being referred to the Dean of Students for adjudication.
6. The following list below (though not inclusive) will be considered failing to complete Orientation and will result in having to re-register, pay an administrative fee ($25) and fully attend a later session. If no later session is available, the student will be required to reapply for admission for the next term or become a non-degree seeking student. Both of these changes in student status can be made by completing a new application (https://apply.wisconsin.edu). This decision is made at the discretion of the Orientation Manager or their designee.
• Arriving more than 60 minutes late to the start of the Orientation session
• Missing any required Orientation programming provided during the session
• Being removed from the session for any reason
• Referral to the Dean of Students
7. All new First Year and Transfer students are required to review their Math and English placements at least 48 hours (two business days) prior to their scheduled New Student Orientation date in order to ensure their placement is accurate. If a student reviews their placement and would like to submit ACT, IB/AP test scores, or take the WI Placement Test to earn a higher placement the student may be asked to change their Math or English course after scheduling if test scores have moved them into a higher-level course.
All students admitted for the summer/fall semester that attend new student orientation are required to pay the $260 New Student Fee. The New Student Fee consists of the following: $125 Transition Programming Fee, $100 Enrollment Deposit, & $35 Ranger Card Fee. This fee is assessed once course registration is complete and will be charged to a students’ SOLAR account and appear on their first tuition statement. It is important to note that by signing below you understand that if you attend New Student Orientation but decided not to attend UW-Parkside for the Summer/Fall 2025 semester, you are still responsible for paying the $260.00 New Student Fee.
9. All guests must pay a $15 New Student Orientation fee. This charge covers all program materials, meals, staffing and technology during the orientation session. Guests under the age of 18 are not charged a fee. Guest fees are charges to the students’ SOLAR account.
10. Student Fees & New Student Orientation Guest Fees are generally non-refundable; however, refunds are considered in limited circumstances. Please see the New Student Services website for more information.
